Marshall Town

A Creek Freedmen settlement, Marshall Town was known for its constant and violent clashes between Black Creek Lighthorsemen and Cherokee cattlemen. During the late 1870's, this turbulent activity flourished in the area situated between the Arkansas and Verdigris rivers, and eventually calmed in the mid 1880's.
