Book Donations

Tulsa City-County Library does accept book donations.  Due to the high volume of donations received and the labor involved in processing, we do have some guidelines we ask that you follow:

  • We can use books that are in excellent condition and less than five-years old.
  • Books that have outdated information or are worn, torn, stained, yellow, dirty, moldy or dusty, or have personal information written or highlighted in them, are unable to be used either in our collections or at our book sales.
  • We do not accept VHS or cassette tapes nor do we collect or attempt to sell rare books.
  • While we welcome your book donations, we are unable to promise or notify you of decisions we make about your donations and we are unable to pick your donations up from your residence.

If a book is not added to the library’s collection, every effort will be made to sell the book in one of the library’s book sales located at several libraries across Tulsa County.  Books that do not sell will be discarded.  Book sales are located at the following locations:

Some other organizations where book donations are accepted include Goodwill and Salvation Army.

Give Money

"The library is often the first resource parents use to find information on learning disabilities. Books on the subject are helpful to parents because they offer a starting point before seeking professional help for their child," says Linda Modenbach, Learning Disabilities Association president, pictured on the left. Her organization's community spirit allows the library to purchase additional materials that help families across Tulsa County.

From a community group's donation that helps strengthen the library's materials collection to a grant for new Internet computers, the library's benefit to the community increases with continued support from local businesses and organizations.

Sponsorships

Peggy V. Helmerich has decided to donate special funds in 2006-2007 to underwrite teen events:  Teen Summer Reading Program; Teen Team Sponsorship; Renaissance Faire for Children, Teens & Families; Teen Art Contest; and 3 to 5 teen-focused events.

Sponsorship levels and opportunities are available for programs throughout the year. From naming a community meeting in memory of a loved one to providing booth space at a local event for library outreach opportunities, your interest in supporting literacy benefits the community.
