Tours

Branch libraries invite school classes to visit for library instruction or to work on special projects. Call your local branch library to schedule a time or to get more information.

Generalized tours of the Central Library are available.  If you would like to become a docent who leads these tours or if you would like to schedule a tour, contact Gretchen Hannefield in the Friends & Volunteers Office at 596-7962.

Individualized instruction workshops and in-depth collection tours are available for teachers and their students from preschool through universities, businesses, daycare centers, book club groups, investment clubs and more. For more information contact the individual departments directly – Children's Department, Media Center, Readers' Library, and Research Center.

The African-American Resource Center (AARC) offers group tours of the Center's collection by appointment. To arrange a tour call the Coordinator at 596-7280. The purpose of the AARC is to collect, preserve and provide access to resources honoring and documenting the experience of people of African descent.
