Today marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The march saw between 200,000 and 300,000 people converge on the Washtington Mall in front of the Lincoln Memorial where a parade of speakers representing multiple races and religions advocated for civility and equalty through prayers and speeches  and hoped to rally support for President Kennedy's proposed Civil Rights legislation.

Tulsa City Council Approves Capital Improvements Package

Last night, after much community involvement and feedback, the Tulsa City Council passed a $918.7 million bond package. The package, which will be included on the November 12 ballot, now awaits voter approval.

Oklahoma Tax Free Weekend

This weekend, August 2 - 4, 2013, is Oklahoma's Sales Tax Holiday weekend.

Beginning at 12:01 am on Friday, August 2, 2013 and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday, August 4, 2013, Oklahoma will hold a sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain clothing and shoes free of sales tax. This includes state and any local sales taxes.

City of Tulsa Tree Debris Pickup

Beginning Monday, July 29, the City of Tulsa will begin picking up debris from the recent rain and wind storms.

A special curbside debris removal operation will begin Monday, July 29, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing to 5 p.m. on weekdays.  Crews will make one pass throughout the city to gather residential tree debris from last night's storm, if it is placed at the curb.

Tulsa Transit on Google

Tulsa Transit is now accessible through Google Maps. This is a great thing for Tulsa, its existing bus riders and any new bus riders.

To find a bus route simply input your starting location, desired end location and time of travel into Google Maps (Googlemaps.com/transit), Google will route your trip letting you know which Tulsa Transit bus(es) will get you on your way.
