It's June 14, which means it's flag day.

Though not a federal holiday, President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 did issue a proclamation officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day. Why June 14? The flag of the United States was adopted on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

Yesterday was primary election day. It was a historic day for the City of Tulsa as we hosted our first-ever municipal, non-partisan election. As no single candidate received 51% of the vote, 2 in each category will move on to the November 12 general election.

Here is a breakdown of the results:

City of Tulsa Mayor

Tomorrow is primary election day in the City of Tulsa and parts of Tulsa County. Polls will be open Tuesday, June 11 7am-7pm. Early voting is available today (Monday, June 10) at the Tulsa County Election Board (555 N. Denver Ave, Tulsa) until 6pm.

It's the first Friday in June, which also means it's National Doughnut Day.

What do doughnuts have to do with government documents? Well, as it turns out, a little... during WWI Salvation Army volunteers would hand out doughnuts (donuts) to America's war weary GIs. At the time doughnuts were considered a European Delicacy.

Tulsa County Municipal Elections are Tuesday, June 11 with early in-person, absentee voting will be available June 7 & 10. For those wanting to vote absentee, applications for absentee ballots must be mailed, faxed or hand-delivered to the Election Board by 5p.m. Wednesday, June 5.

City of Tulsa voters will be voting on Mayor, City Auditor, and 3 unopposed Council seats.
