Homeowners who are facing mortgage troubles or foreclosure may qualify for legal aid. The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office and Legal Aid Services are providing free legal assistance through the program Resolution Oklahoma.
Oklahomans with lower incomes or seniors should first contact Legal Aid Services at 888-534-5243 to learn if they qualify for the income-based assistance. Homeowners who don't meet the income-based need guidelines can still apply for a voucher worth up to $5,000 in legal services, according to Attorney General Scott Pruitt.
The legal help is paid for through the Oklahoma Mortgage Settlement Fund.
"Throughout this process, we found homeowners fared better with the help of an attorney. Through Resolution Oklahoma, we will be able to provide this critical legal assistance to Oklahoma families."
Voucher applications can be found online or by calling 405-521-2029.
