June Adult Learner Book Club

As per usual, the Book Club will not met during the month of May. However, there is a book for participants to read for June: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

“A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.”

Financial Fitness Kit 2014

The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants made a fantastic Financial Fitness Kit and has provided copies to library locations for free—and the literacy office has more than a few to give out to those who might be interested in obtaining one! The kit is in the form of a magazine and is quite text-heavy, so this might be a good tool for a tutor to use during lessons with adult learners who are interested in obtaining financial information. They contain some really great information on the following topics:

Using the Computer for English Language Learning

Learn how Rosetta Stone and Mango Languages can help your ESL learner. Computer Tutor Alisa Brooks, will be on hand to help both tutors and adult learners with the software programs. This will be a casual, open lab format, rather than a structured class. Try out the programs, ask questions and talk to other ESL tutors and learners.

When: Friday, May 16th, 3:00 p.m.— 4:30 p.m.
