The local history subject guide has a new Tulsa timeline based on dates and events from Angie Debo's Tulsa: From Creek Town to Oil Capital. The timeline covers 1540-1942, beginning with de Soto's arrival at the thriving Creek Indian settlement Tallasi (Tulsey or Tulsee -the original spelling of Tulsa-later becomes a shortened pronunciation of Tallasi) and ending with some of Tulsa's contributions to World War II. Several individuals who were influential in the development of Tulsa and many Tulsa "firsts" are listed in the timeline. Debo's book is a key source for Tulsa history and, at 123 pages, a short read if you want to know more about the timeline events.
