Stock price information at the Tulsa City-County Library

Permalink 04/25/12 09:56 , Categories: Databases, Business, Stock Prices

Throughout the year, local tax firms, investment companies and customers alike contact the library to inquire about current stock prices and the value of stock purchased or sold years ago. Older historic stock prices are not as readily accessible as current ones on company websites.

Our new database, Standard & Poor’s NetAdvantage, provides remote access to many print investing and business tools to which those outside Central Library have not had prior access. The database is available remotely. All you need is a current library card for access! The Daily Stock Price Record online includes daily prices for the three major exchanges, the New York, American and NASDAQ/OTC, back to 1982. The Research Center retains the Daily Stock Price Record print copies beginning in 1962 for those stock exchanges. As an alternative resource, the Wall Street Journal also includes stock prices in their daily edition. Mutual fund prices can be found from 1982 forward in the front of the Over the Counter volumes of the DSPR. NetAdvantage begins historic mutual funds in 1998.

Occasionally old stock certificates are found by family members when cleaning out attics or even files. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission provides information on researching old stock and bond certificates. The certificate might be a collectable even if it has no investment value. Standard & Poor’s is a company recognized for its quality business information.

Let AskUs know if we can assist using our various stock price resources.
