I’m thinking of getting my friend an eReader for Christmas, and I’ve heard the library has eBooks. What types of readers are compatible with the library’s service?

The Tulsa City-County Library will soon be adding eBooks to our collection that you will be able to download to your computer or compatible eReader.
We hope to have these eBooks available by mid-December, 2010. Our eBooks will be in the EPUB format, an industry standard “open” book format. Since the Kindle is a proprietary ("closed") device, our eBooks will not work with it. EPUB files will allow library customers to download to the Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony Readers, and the Kobo. There will also be an Overdrive app that will make the service compatible with iPhones and iPads.
