It May Be Just Dirt Now ...

Between the new parking garage and the library will be the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Foundation Children's Garden.  This quiet and inviting space will accommodate outdoor programming for all ages.

Focusing on children and families, the library will offer free interactive programs in the garden designed to engage, motivate and inspire participants.  On beautiful days, adults will enjoy programs of books and music, offering fun and educational respite from a busy day.

Walls Appearing

Wall framing continues on all floors with the Lower Level being the primary area of focus.  Whereas the first, second and third levels of the renovated Central Library will be mostly large, open, public areas, the lower level will include the Aaronson Auditorium, Reception, Conference Room, staff offices and workrooms.

50th Birthday Hard Hat Tour

On June 16, major donors for the renovation of the Central Library, city and county officials, Library Commissioners, Tulsa Library Trust members, and the Capital Campaign committee helped us celebrate the 50th Birthday of the Central Library which opened in June 1965.  Guests donned hard hats for tours of the Central Library, with guides taking them to areas on the first level where the Tech Lounge, Making Lab, Audio Lab, Self Service Center, Coffee Shop, Self Check, Meeting Room and Childrens Library will be located.

Working On the New Entrance

Steel supports are now in place for the steps to the new plaza at the entrance of the Central Library.  The plaza and entrance will be accessible from the reopened Fifth Street.

Preparing for New Parking

In the past, Central Library customers often found a shortage of parking spaces.  Along with the renovation of the library, a new parking garage with 140 parking spaces will be constructed west of the library.  Entrances will be from 5th Street and at the center of the photo from 4th Street.
