Preparing for New Parking

In the past, Central Library customers often found a shortage of parking spaces.  Along with the renovation of the library, a new parking garage with 140 parking spaces will be constructed west of the library.  Entrances will be from 5th Street and at the center of the photo from 4th Street.

A Place for a New Staircase

The Central Library will soon have a new staircase between the second and third floors.  The photo shows the opening cut in the third floor, looking down to the second and first floors.

Making Way for Study Rooms

In the photo, workmen are shown removing the surface of the Central Library's second floor balcony.  On the balcony's east and west sides, eight small study group rooms will be constructed.

Saving Water

In the photo are two 5,700 gallon tanks that will collect and store rainwater to suppliment the water needed for the Central Library's irrigation system.

Saying Goodbye

On the afternoon of February 24, Library Commissioners, County Commissioners, Tulsa Library Trust members, donors and friends gathered to say goodbye to the last remaining sign of the old Central Library.  Within seconds after the signal was given by Library CEO Gary Shaffer, the Central Library sign at the corner of 5th Street and Denver was brought down.  See the complete demolition in the attached video.
