Basic Search Tips

When using the catalog, it is advisable to use the catalog's navigation tools (such as Prev, Next or Return to Browse) and NOT the back and forward buttons in the browser.

Capitalization - Unnecessary. You can enter words in either UPPER or lower case. For example, you can enter TULSA, tulsa, or Tulsa.

Punctuation - You can omit punctuation in your search term(s). Apostrophes are ignored--O'Dell and Odell are the same. All other punctuation marks, spaces or any combination thereof are treated like a space. U.S.A., U S A, & U. S. A. are all treated the same.

AND, & - Treated the same. Lewis & Clark and Lewis and Clark will get the same result.

Truncation - Always right truncation. Entering Smith as an author search will retrieve all Smiths as well.

Spelling - There is no spell check. If your search is unsuccessful check your spelling.

Deleting - Use the Backspace <ENTER> key on your keyboard to erase a typing error to the left of the cursor. Use the Delete key on your keyboard to delete the character to the right of the cursor.

Only show items not checked out - Check this box to limit your search to items that are available to check out. Please note: If the library has ordered an item that has not yet been recieved, the item will still display in your search results.
