Research Center Special Collections

The Research Center on the 4th floor of the Central Library offers a variety of specialized print and electronic resources. Below you will find some of those described, in addition to links chosen by our librarians to help you find what will best suit your needs.

Automotive
Print resources include Mitchell's, Haynes and Chilton's Repair Manuals; online resources include Mitchell’s, AllData, and Chilton’s repair manuals.

Business History
Print resources include International Directory of Company Histories (multi-volumes), Notable Corporate Chronologies, and Encyclopedia of Entrepreneurs.

College Collection
Information on the college selection process and financial aid opportunities.

Foundation Center Collection
A regional affiliate of the Foundation Center in NYC.
Features comprehensive and current resource material about funding sources, grant writing, fund raising, and nonprofit organization and management.

Geology
USGS Bulletins, Professional Papers, Water Supply Papers and Circulars; State Geological Bulletins; AAPG Bulletins; GSA Bulletins and memoirs; Canadian Geology.

Government Documents
TCCL is a partial depository for government publications, both Federal and State.

Investments
A variety of sources for the personal investor to use in security analysis and selection.

Law Collection
Print resources include West's Encyclopedia of Law, Oklahoma Statutes,
U.S. Code,
and the Statutes at Large (88th Congress - present).

Literary Collection
A myriad of sources for literary criticism and biography, plot summaries, and more.

Map Collections
Resources include 1980's Tulsa County aerial maps, Oklahoma Territory & Early Oklahoma Statehood Maps and Government Land Office plat maps from the 1890's to the early 1900's, historic Oklahoma highway maps back to the late 1910’s, 1:24,000 scale topographic maps for states west of the Mississippi River, smaller-scale topographic maps covering the United States, Flood Plain maps for the Tulsa County, USGS Geologic and Hydrologic Series maps, various U.S. and foreign geological maps, and National Parks Series maps.

Oklahoma Reference Collection
This collection includes books and materials on the history of the state, biographies of noted Oklahomans, books about Indian tribes in Oklahoma, travel destinations, and other topics as they relate to Oklahoma, including art, archaeology, literature, music, education, business, cookbooks, maps, newspaper clipping files, and local Tulsa history. In addition, we have a limited collection of yearbooks from local high schools and state universities and The Chronicles of Oklahoma.

Schematics
Rider Manuals provide complete schematics for early radios and televisions. Rider was continued by Sam's Photofacts and our current subscription only includes television schematics. However, occasional VCR schematics are sent with the TV folders.

Small Business
Print resources include Small Business Sourcebook (312 specific profiles), Small Business Profiles (2 volumes), and Encyclopedia of Small Business.

Songbook Collection
Index to the words & music of over 26,000 songs in the print version and 12,000 songs in the online version.

Standards

Full standards and specs including:

Partial standards including:

Tulsa Organizations & Services
Use this resource to find Tulsa clubs, support groups, professional societies, social service and government agencies, libraries, museums, speakers, meeting facilities and more.  This information is searchable by the public in any library or through the World Wide Web.  Organizations with Web sites are given a link to the Internet from their entry.

Vertical Files
Collections of newspaper clippings, brochures, maps, and the like, that have been preserved by librarians since the 1950s, covering General, Oklahoma, and Tulsa.

Vocational Guidance / Job Hunting Information
Sources for exploring the local and national job market, including the Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guidance.
