It's a busy weekend... National Day of Service, Inauguration Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In case you're interested in taking part or marking any of these days, here's a few details.
Monday is Martin Luther King Day, the day we've set aside to honor one of our greatest Civil Rights leaders, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. One way in which we are encouraged to celebrate Dr. King and his legacy is to participate in the National Day of Service. There are several ways to learn of ways to participate in the National Day of Service. On Monday, commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with Tulsa's Annual MLK, Jr. Parade. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at Detroit and John Hope Franklin Blvd.
Sunday, January 20 is inauguration day. It was the 20th Amendment that set aside January 20 for the President's inauguration. Because the 20th falls on a Sunday, this year's public ceremony, the inaugural parade and the inaugural ball(s) will be held on Monday, January 21.
