I'm Interested In Helping Someone Learn To Read. How Do I Apply To Become A Literacy Tutor At The Library?

Recent statistics indicate that approximately 1 in 6 adults in Oklahoma perform at the most basic or below basic literacy levels. The Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service, located at 29th & Harvard, promotes literacy across the lifespan through emergent and family literacy outreach initiatives and adult basic and English language instruction.

The program currently has students on their waiting list. If you are 18 or older, a high school graduate or GED recipient, and are interested in becoming a tutor, please contact the Literacy Center at 918-549-7400 for information on available tutoring options.

I completed the Adult Literacy Training Program; however, I am unable to fulfill the role of tutor. Do you want me to take the materials to my local library and ask them to return to the Hardman Literacy Services ibrary? Thank you.
