Federal Government Benefits

GovBenefits.gov consolidated information on 400 government benefit programs. It is free and confidential.

BenefitsCheckUp is a program of the National Council on Aging that helps thousands of people every day to connect to private or government programs that help them pay for prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other needs.

GovLoans.gov provides information on federal loan opportunities. Some examples of loan opportunities include business, housing, and disaster relief loans.

Home Ownership & Repairs

Community Action Project of Tulsa County offers a first-time homebuyers program that includes education and down payment assistance.

Homeownership Assistance Programs links to TCCL’s database Tulsa Organizations & Services. This is a list of area organizations and services that assist first time and low income home buyers.

Home Ownership Tulsa (HOT) is a partnership between the City of Tulsa and area nonprofits

Home Repair & Maintenance Assistance lists area organizations and programs that assist with basic home repair and maintenance. The link will take users to TCCL’s database Tulsa Organizations & Services.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides seasonal assistance to low-income households to assist with winter heating bills and to provide help for some families who have received utility cut-off notices. Applications are taken in the local DHS county offices.

Neighbor for Neighbor builds or restores homes for low- to moderate-income families in north Tulsa.

Tulsa County Home Finance Authority provides lender information to assist individuals who might qualify for low interest financing, down payment and closing cost assistance.

Tulsa Weather Coalition loans small, high efficiency air conditioners to a limited number of clients referred by hospitals, clinics and agencies.

Medical Assistance

Dental Assistance Directory is a listing of statewide clinics and programs offering dental services to seniors, children and low-income individuals.

Tulsa-area Dental Services takes you to the library’s database of Tulsa area dental services.

Oklahoma DHS Medical Services includes information for individuals in need of health benefits. This site provides eligibility guidelines and information for special groups such as the elderly and children with disabilities.

Oklahoma Insurance Department High Risk Pool was created to serve those who are considered medically uninsurable or high risk. In layman’s terms, it means they have been denied health insurance due to a serious health condition.

Child Care Assistance is an Oklahoma DHS sponsored programs that assists families with child care costs while parents go to work or attend school or training.

Kidsline is a centralized appointment-setting service for local health care clinics.

Assistance for the Disabled

Disability Resources, Inc. provides extensive information and resources for individuals with disabilities. Indexes link users to a variety of resource. The Financial Resources link provides information and links to foundation and government grants for disability-related organizations and disabled individuals.

American Federation for the Blind has an interactive web site where job seekers with visual impairments can explore career options with online help of blind or visually impaired mentors.

Eldercare Locator, a public service of the U.S. Administration on Aging, connects older Americans and their caregivers with sources of information on senior services.

FirstGov’s Senior Citizen’s Resources links seniors to helpful information including Money and Taxes, Health, Consumer Protection and Education, Jobs and Volunteerism for Seniors.
