Federal Government Funding

Below is a sampling of federal government agencies that provide funding opportunities. Please note that this is not a complete list and all will redirect to grants.gov for additional grant information and application.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance provides access to information on government sponsored grant programs including formula and project grants, direct loans, and other government assistance programs.

ED.gov is the U.S. Department of Education’s connection to grant opportunities.

FEMA: this link will take users directly to FEMA’s listing of assistance programs. FEMA offers grants and loans for a variety of programs and organizations from general safety and preparedness to disaster recovery.

Grants.gov is a searchable database of government grants. Browse or search by agency, category or keyword. Advanced search functions are also available.

GovBenefits.gov provides lists and searches for government sponsored benefits programs, examples include Veteran’s Benefits, Section 8 housing, etc.

National Endowment for the Arts provides federal funding for the arts.

National Endowment for the Humanities provides federal funding for various humanities based projects.

National Institutes of Health provides federal funding for health science research and programs.

The Foundation Center The website for The Foundation Center provides helpful guides and bibliographies to nonprofit and individual grant seekers. Email notices of recent RFPs and the Philanthropy News Digest deliver grant opportunities and news right to your inbox. (registration for email notices is required and free)

Foundations On-Line: A Directory of Charitable Grantmakers provides links to corporate, private, and community foundations' and grantmakers' home pages to obtain grant applications, reports, e-mail addresses, and more.

Grantmakers of Oklahoma is a free website of 242 Oklahoma grant making foundations. This database is maintained by the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma.

GrantSmart is useful for grant seekers or philanthropic organizations looking for other organizations with similar projects, or for individual donors wishing to see how private foundations spend their money.

Philanthropy News Digest’s RFP is the Foundation Center’s listing of Requests for Proposals. Submitted daily, “each RFP provides a brief overview of a current funding opportunity offered by a foundation or other grantmaking organization.”

The Rockefeller Foundation “ grantmaking is organized around four thematic lines of work: Creativity & Culture, Food Security, Health Equity and Working Communities."

SchoolGrants offers “ numerous resources for locating, writing, receiving, and managing grant proposals for the elementary and secondary education community.”

SRA International GrantsWeb “ provides a comprehensive list of links to government and private grant sources as well as links to federal government policy information and regulations and to its own list of international foundations.”

Technology Grant News “provides information about technology funding ‘for colleges & universities, K-12 schools, non profits, libraries & museums and towns & cities’."
