Genealogy Tree

The Genealogy Center of the Tulsa City-County Library System is one of the largest genealogy collections in Oklahoma.  This collection focuses not only on Tulsa and Oklahoma but also contains sources covering many other areas.  A large number of materials cover Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia.  The collection consists of books, microfilm, microfiche, CD ROMs and maps.

Highlights include

Genealogy Reference and Research Services

Genealogy questions can be answered by phone or letter. Examples of phone inquiries would be a question about what the library owns, an address or information on a research topic. The department is not able to "look up" names on Indian rolls or census rolls by phone. The staff is unable to make long distance phone calls or faxes.

A limited amount of research can be conducted for inquiries by letter. These would include copying obituaries, census information or Indian research. For detailed research, the library maintains a list of researchers who will conduct research for a fee.

Copying charges include 10 cents per page for photocopying and copying microfilm and microfiche.

Newspapers and city directories dating back to the early days of Tulsa are located at the Central Library.
