Welcome to the Genealogy Center of the Tulsa City County Library System.

New Genealogy Books and Current Magazines

Books are arranged by state.

Books in the collection are arranged by state and within each state by Dewey Decimal Classification. Sections covering more than one state will house books on immigration, military records, family books, etc.

Pennsylvania Archives

New England Historical and Genealogical Register

Within the state collections will be books covering county records, cemetery records, state military information, county genealogical society publications and county histories. These pictures show the Pennsylvania Archives and the New England Historical and Genealogical Register.

Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage

The Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage books contain research done by early members who joined the organization. The applications of later members are covered in indexes.

Passenger and Immigration Lists Index

The Passenger and Immigration Lists Index helps locate immigrant ancestors. This index leads researchers to books and articles which give passenger arrival information.

Mayflower Familites Through 5 Generations

Mayflower Families Through 5 Generations cover families who came over on the Mayflower.

Indexes of US Federal Censuses

The collection contains most of the census indexes for the US federal census, 1790-1870.

Tulsa Funeral Home Books

For doing Tulsa research, the library has the Funeral Home Records for the city of Tulsa. These give death dates and the name of the funeral home of individuals who died in the city of Tulsa. Once information is found, researchers can obtain an obituary from the Tulsa newspaper and contact the funeral home for more information.

A map showing the locations of Tulsa county cemeteries is located in the department. A cemetery book for the county is also available.

Chronicles of Oklahoma

The Chronicles of Oklahoma is published by the Oklahoma Historical Society and contains historical articles on the state of Oklahoma. The publication began in the 1890's and the library owns copies of all years of the publication.

Official Records of the War of the Rebellion

An important research tool for Civil War researchers is the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion. The complete set is located at the library. These historical records document the war through official correspondence between the various units and headquarters.

Rosters of Union and Confederate Troops

Another important source is the rosters for both Union and Confederate soldiers. Names are alphabetical and the roster gives the soldier's unit and state in which he served.

Heraldry

Heraldry is of interest to many researchers. The library has a number of books devoted to heraldry research. Also included in this section are surname dictionaries that give meaning and origins of names.

Vertical File Cabinets

Unpublished research, articles, brochures, etc. are filed in our vertical file cabinets. These are alphabetically arranged by state and family.

Maps

The map cabinet contains loose maps helpful in research. The map collection, though small, is growing to include both US and international maps of interest.

Computer

Genealogists can conduct family research using CD ROM's at the CD Rom station.

Microfilm

The microfilm cabinets hold the genealogy microfilm collection. are census records, Indian tribal rolls of the Five Civilized Tribes, the Oklahoma land run tract books, and other miscellaneous film.

Microfilm

The library has the complete soundex and census for Oklahoma for the years 1900, 1910 and 1920. A large collection of census records for other states is also available.

Census

A special collection of records relating to the Five Civilized Tribes is located in the department. This collection includes The Final Roll of the Five Civilized Tribes and other major rolls of the Five Civilized Tribes.
