About the Department
Collection Overview
Tulsa City-County Library was designated a selective federal depository in 1963 and a full state depository in 1978. As such, the library currently receives 30 percent of United States Government publications produced by the Government Printing Office and all of the state publications deposited with the Oklahoma Publications Clearinghouse each year.
These publications are received in print, microfiche, CD-ROM, and on the World Wide Web. In addition, the library is a repository for Tulsa County and City of Tulsa publications and as a State Data Center affiliate receives statistical and demographic materials from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
Accessing
All of the federal, state, and local publications are shelved on the 4th floor of the Central Library in the Research Center.
Federal publications received since approximately 1963 are included in the library catalog. In addition, the library subscribes to an indexing tool for government documents. This tool allows the user to search for government documents published since 1976 by subject, author, sponsoring agency and title. The index is available off the Research web page. Look for WorldCat under Alphabetic List of Databases.
Access to city, county, and state publications is currently available by authoring agency and title only. A searchable database of Oklahoma publications is available online. Librarians are available to aid in locating materials in these areas.
Federal and state publications that are not available at the Tulsa City-County Library can usually be obtained from another depository library. Please check with the government documents staff for further details.
