Tulsa City-County Library to launch Summer Reading Program and unveil new challenge with Gathering Place

TCCL and park team up for county-wide reading challenge

 

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) will kick off its annual Summer Reading Program on Tuesday, May 23 and announce a partnership with A Gathering Place for Tulsa (TGP) to issue a county-wide reading challenge. Media are invited to attend next Tuesday’s press conference in the Central Library’s Tandy Children’s Garden at 10 a.m. to learn more about this summer’s program and the Reading Tree Challenge. Mayor G.T. Bynum, TCCL CEO Kimberly Johnson and TGP Park Director Tony Moore will give remarks.

A project of George Kaiser Family Foundation, A Gathering Place for Tulsa will transform nearly 100 acres of Tulsa’s waterfront along the Arkansas River into a dynamic and active space. GKFF and numerous corporate and community philanthropists gave ownership of the $400 million park to River Parks Authority who in turn signed a long-term operational and management lease back to an entity of the foundation to ensure the highest quality operation, maintenance and programming for the life of the park.
