To access to the library’s eBook collections our vendor requires that you create a free account.
Checking Out eBooks
Checking out an eBook gives you exclusive use of the eBook for three days. The eBook is automatically returned when the checkout period expires. You aren’t required to check out an eBook; you can simply peruse a title online, find the information you need, and move along.
Like other library materials, when an eBook is being used by one customer – either checked out or just opened and being read – it is unavailable to other customers until it’s checked back in or closed by the customer.
NetLibrary eBooks are read online via your Web browser. They aren’t actually downloaded to your computer. Our eBook collection is mostly made up of general interest, reference, technical, and how-to subjects. Most people find keyword searches to locate specific passages in the books useful rather than sitting down and reading the entire eBook on the computer.
Search for an eBook
You can search the library catalog (opac.tulsalibrary.org) using an author search of netLibrary to view a list of eBooks owned by the library.
You can also perform keyword searches to narrow your selection. For example:
- netLibrary and small business
- netLibrary and marketing
- netLibrary and nutrition
- netLibrary and computer
In a regular Subject search you can also Limit your search results to eBooks. Anytime your catalog search retrieves more than one record you’ll see a Limit Search button at the top of the screen; click this button to launch a menu of limit choices, including Material Type: eBook.
Look for this symbol in the catalog to help you identify eBooks.
