Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service will be presenting another training by Penny Stack next Saturday at the Hardesty Regional Library.
This training will focus on how to identify and build auditory memory. Ms. Stack, from the Dyslexia Institutes of America, will show tutors and learners strategy tips focusing on auditory memory that typically are underlying issues to comprehension challenges.

That’s right! Now adults (age 18+) have their very own reading challenge this summer too! For reading or listening to any four books between May 27th and August 2nd, adults win a coupon for a free bagel from Panera Bread, and will be entered automatically to win one of 185 awesome prizes!

The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants made a fantastic Financial Fitness Kit and has provided copies to library locations for free—and the literacy office has more than a few to give out to those who might be interested in obtaining one! The kit is in the form of a magazine and is quite text-heavy, so this might be a good tool for a tutor to use during lessons with adult learners who are interested in obtaining financial information. Learn how Rosetta Stone and Mango Languages can help your ESL learner. Computer Tutor Alisa Brooks, will be on hand to help both tutors and adult learners with the software programs. This will be a casual, open lab format, rather than a structured class. Try out the programs, ask questions and talk to other ESL tutors and learners.
