Board Internship Program for Tulsa Nonprofits and Young Adults

Image of conference table surrounded by leather executive chairs.

Every year Tulsa’s Young Professionals (TYPros) and Leadership Tulsa pair up to match more than 80 young, aspiring nonprofit leaders to local organizations through the Board Internship Program.

According to TYPros, the program serves to “develop young adult leaders in Tulsa by familiarizing them with each other, the community in general, and the practices and principles of community leadership through a nonprofit board internship.”

Tutors: Reporting Volunteer Hours Online

It is very important that tutors in our literacy program report their volunteer time with us each month. Tutors can report their volunteer hours online. Volunteer hours to count for reporting purposes include tutoring time, preparation and travel time. To find the monthly report form from the library's homepage, start at http://www.tulsalibrary.org/, then hover  over--but don’t click-- on the INTERESTS button (near the top). You will see the choice for LITERACY in the first column.

Be a Power Up! Volunteer!

Have some free time on your hands and want to help integrate new literacy students to the program? We offer a 2 hour orientation session to incoming students in which we discuss how the program works, what the expectations are of both students and their prospective tutors, and goal setting strategies in detail. This orientation session is called Power Up! and next year we plan to offer one session a month for ESL students, and one for Basic Literacy students: now we just need the volunteers to lead and assist these sessions!
