African American Resource Center
Located
at the Rudisill Regional Library, the purpose of the African-American
Resource Center is to collect, preserve and provide access to resources
honoring and documenting the experiences of people of African descent.
The Center is devoted to providing the community with current and comprehensive
resource materials and professional reference materials on the culture
and history of African-Americans.
American Indian Resource Center
Located at the Central Library, the American Indian Resource Center
provides cultural, educational and informational resources, activities
and services honoring American Indian heritage, arts and achievements.
The center provides access to more than 7,000 books and media for adults
and children by and about American Indians, including historical and
rare materials, new releases, videos and music compact discs.
Death Notice Index
This
is a database listing the dates of death notices that have appeared
in the Tulsa World and Tulsa Tribune. The Death Notice Index contains
the name of the person and the date the death notice appeared in the
newspaper, covering the years 1965-1990.
Genealogy Center
One
of the largest genealogy collections in Oklahoma, the Genealogy Center
collection focuses on Tulsa and Oklahoma and consists of books, microfilm,
microfiche, CD-ROMs and maps.
Hispanic Resource Center
Located
at the Martin Regional Library, the Hispanic Resource Center provides
cultural, informational, and educational resources, activities, and
services. It serves both Spanish and English-speaking customers.
Historical
Preservation Project: Oral Histories on Compact Disk
This
project sponsored by the Junior League of Tulsa in the late 1970s and
early 1980s features discussions on medicine, life styles, architecture,
government, business, education, journalism, and other subjects with
regard to the early history of Tulsa.
Local Publications
Index
This
is an index of articles and photographs available in older Tulsa
area publications housed at the Central Library. It includes
publications from the Tulsa and Oklahoma area that are no longer
published and only issues that are available at the library. You will
find articles and photographs on a wide range of subjects, including
Armon H. Bost, the Junior Baseball League, Union Depot, Hyechka Club,
the Park-O-Meter, and W. G. Skelly.
Newspapers & Telephone Directories
These collections are located on the 4th floor of the Central
Library in the Research Center. Copies can be made, but these materials
don’t check out.
School
Yearbooks
This
collection of donated yearbooks represents a number of schools in Tulsa
County and some state and private university yearbooks. The largest
collection of yearbooks is located at the Central Library, but several
of the branch libraries have small collections representing schools
in their area. As yearbooks are donated to the library they are cataloged
and added to the collection. We welcome donations of Tulsa County schools
yearbooks to help us grow this collection.
Tulsa & Oklahoma Collection @ Central Library
Relive Tulsa’s and Oklahoma’s colorful past by perusing this comprehensive,
multi-format collection that resides in the Research Center on the 4th floor
of the Central Library.
Tulsa
County Election Reports
Following every election in Tulsa County, the Research Center receives
and houses election reports from the Tulsa County Election Board. The
library has reports from April 1967 to the most current available from
the Election Board.
