Tuesday: 1:00 pm-5:00 pm
Wednesday: 5:00 pm-9:00 pm
Thursday: 5:00 pm-9:00 pm
Friday: 2:00 pm-6:00 pm
Schedule Notes: 

Rotating Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 1:00pm - 5:00pm (1-2 a month)

Job Summary: 

Charges, discharges and renews library materials; provides information to customers concerning library services and circulation policies; sorts and routes returned library materials to proper locations; processes daily operations report; checks materials for wear or damage; performs other duties as assigned

Essential Functions: 
  1. Charges, renews and discharges library materials to/from customers, assisting them with self check-out machines as needed;
  2. Provides general information about library hours, services, policies, and materials, referring reference questions to appropriate staff;
  3. Registers customers by issuing and updating library cards;
  4. Sorts and routes returned materials to proper location;
  5. Receives and records fines and lost materials information;
  6. Checks library materials for damage and performs minor repairs;
  7. Maintains orderly circulation and service areas;
  8. Maintains periodical collections, sorts gift items, prepares new books for circulation as directed;
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  1. Knowledge of general library procedures, policies, and operations;
  2. Knowledge of circulation policies, processes and procedures;
  3. Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  4. Ability to perform numeric and alphabetic sorting and filing;
  5. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet;
  6. Familiarity with library’s automated circulation system;
  7. Ability to work evenings, weekends or other irregular hours.
Education & Experience: 
  1. High school diploma or G.E.D.;
  2. Bilingual (English-Spanish) required; 
  3. Some college level coursework preferred;
  4. No previous experience required.
Physical & Environmental Conditions: 

Work occasionally requires stooping and bending.  Occasional light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.

There are usually no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
