Job Summary: 

Under the supervision of the library facilities manager, this position oversees electrical aspects of interior/exterior construction and repair of library facilities; ensures cost-efficient maintenance of electrical systems and equipment (Including installation, maintenance, alterations, repairs of any wire, cable or conduit, raceway, fixture or equipment that transmits or uses electrical energy); assists as needed other facilities staff with routine maintenance and weather related issues; performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions: 
  1. Maintains all electrical power and lighting equipment and systems for TCCL locations;
  2. Performs all installation of new electrical systems and lighting, to include security cameras, phone lines, sound equipment and cables;
  3. Plans, designs, schedules and purchases materials for interior and exterior electrical construction/repair projects, including power distribution panels, disconnects, light fixtures, receptacles, power transformers, and motor starters;
  4. Designs, builds, installs, maintains and operates library sound system equipment;
  5. Performs preventive maintenance on electrical panels, RTUs, motors and controllers, torqueing busses and other connections;
  6. Assists in selection of third-party contractors for major projects to ensure quality of work and monitors contractors’ work to ensure adherence to contract specifications;
  7. Assists with routine maintenance tech responsibilities as needed;
  8. Participates with other facilities staff as needed for weather related issues, such as snow or ice removal at locations;
  9. Performs other duties as instructed and assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  1. Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of electrical repair and construction, including lighting, sound, security and phone systems and equipment;
  2. Skills using a variety of hand and power tools (saws, planes, drills, screw guns, etc.);
  3. Ability to monitor electrical aspects of construction and repair projects and ensure adherence to contract specifications and code requirements;
  4. Good communication skills;
  5. Basic computer skills.
  6. Ability to pass a pre-employment (post-offer) physical and continuing physical examinations at regular intervals.
  7. Ability to pass a pre-employment (post-offer) drug screen and continuing random drug screenings post-hire.
Education & Experience: 
  1. High school diploma or GED;
  2. Additional training at a trade or vocational school required;
  3. Five to seven years electrical experience;
  4. Experience in specifying, selecting, and purchasing materials;
  5. Electrical contractor’s license; Must pledge license to the library exclusively;
  6. Valid Oklahoma driver's license and good driving record.
Physical & Environmental Conditions: 

Work involves considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting of heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.


Work involves risks of discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; may require working in adverse weather conditions.


Work environment involves routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The job may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
