TULSA, Okla. --- The Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries invites local thinkers to discuss current events in foreign policy at the Great Decisions series kickoff. Participants can learn more about the Great Decisions program, get connected with other globally concerned citizens and acquire thought-provoking information through a keynote address, group discussions and print materials available for purchase.

   Mike Troilo, Ph.D., Chapman associate professor of international business and finance at The University of Tulsa, will open the series with a keynote address, "It Takes Two to Tango? The Future of Sino-U.S. Relations in a Multi-Polar World," on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2:30 p.m., in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue. The program is free and open to the public.

   Troilo will explore relevant policies and controversies between the U.S. and China. Troilo’s areas of interest include business economics, international business and business administration.

   Great Decisions is America’s largest civic-education program on U.S. foreign policy and global affairs. Great Decisions is sponsored nationally by the Foreign Policy Association and locally by the Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries. The goal of the program is to serve as a catalyst for developing awareness and understanding of global issues.

  

   Participants are invited to join a local Great Decisions group and partake in discourse focusing on this year’s featured topics. A briefing book that highlights eight of the most stimulating and pertinent foreign policy challenges facing Americans today will be available for purchase at the kickoff event. The featured topics are:

  • Climate Change and the Global Order
  • India and Pakistan
  • Red Sea Security
  • Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
  • U.S. Relations with the Northern Triangle
  • China’s Road into Latin America
  • The Philippines and the U.S.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Data
