When kids are learning to read, they move through four important stages:

  1. Emergent readers begin recognizing letters, sounds, and simple words.
  2. Early readers start tackling short sentences with familiar vocabulary.
  3. Transitional readers read longer sentences and new words with growing confidence.
  4. Fluent readers can enjoy full stories with little support, focusing more on comprehension and meaning.

Early chapter books are perfect for children in the early to transitional stages. They often bridge the gap between picture books and full-length novels, helping young readers build confidence while enjoying engaging, fantasy and adventure stories.

Here are some fantastic fantasy and adventure books – full of magical worlds, brave heroes, and exciting quests that will capture the imagination and spark a love for reading in young minds!
