Travels With Tulsans

Travels With Tulsans is one of the Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries' longest running programs. Presented by notable community members, this lunchtime travelogue series runs each January-February. Bring a brown bag lunch and settle in to learn more about these fascinating locales both near and far. Programs will also broadcast on the Zoom virtual meeting platform. Jan. 25 - Turkish Culture: Turkey and the Gulen Movement with Yusuf Firat
Math teacher Yusuf Firat talks about his involvement with Raindrop Turkish House Oklahoma and the Gulen or "Hizmet" Movement - aimed at human rights and interfaith dialogue. | EVENT DETAILS

Feb. 1 - Drop Down Into the Slot Canyons of Utah with Gwen Moudry
Enjoy the incredible scenery as Gwen Moudry takes you canyoneering in the slot canyons of Zion National Park, Buckskin Gulch and the Pariah River. | 

Feb. 8 - Land of the Rising Sun: 10 Days in Japan with Tara Farrar
After Japan reopened to US tourists in October 2022, Tara Farrar took the opportunity to visit the culturally-rich country, exploring Hiroshima, Nagano, the Mt. Fuji area, and more. | 

Feb. 15 - Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage in Pictures with Anitra Lavanhar
Walk the well-worn route of St. James with Anitra Lavanhar, who took two life-changing trips down the famed pilgrimage in Spain. | 

Feb. 22 - Northern Germany: Hamburg and the North Sea with Gisele McDaniel
Gisele McDaniel lived in Hamburg till age 14. She visits her home city and the towns around the North Sea on her frequent trips to Germany, most recently in June 2022. | 

March 1 - Oklahoma Through the Eyes of Visitors with Bob Lieser
If you're visiting from overseas, Tulsa and Oklahoma can be exotic destinations, too! Join Bob Lieser with Tulsa Global Alliance and learn what U.S. State Department international visitors to Oklahoma see, and how it shapes their impression of our community and our country. |
