What Is Your Reading Identity?

Black History Month Edition

By Madalyn Rogers, Children's Associate, Hardesty Regional Library

Depending on what kind of reader you are, we have the books! Especially if you want to find a book in your reading identity that is related to Black History Month.

Bring on the magic! When you're a MAGIC, DRAGONS, & SWORDS reader, you read to escape into a more exciting world where dragons are real, and anything can happen. If this sounds like you, the first installment in the Nic Blake and the Remarkables series, “The Manifestor Prophecy,” is for you!

When you are a SERIAL READER and you read a book you love, you just want more! You like to continue the story with the same characters and settings. Start the Hair Magic series with “Imani and the Great Hair Experiment” for some science fair fun! There’s no pressure to start at the beginning, though; the titles in this series can be read in any order!

CURIOUS DETECTIVE readers want just the facts, please! If you want to know what really happened during real historical events, look no further than “Claudia in the Storm a Girls Survived story about hurricane Katrina.

Why do people do the things they do? When you're a CONNECTOR reader, you want to know! Your favorite books feature characters dealing with family, friendships, and life. In “Adventures with Claudie”, an American Girl book, follow Claudie as she travels to meet extended family and learn about how her heritage could help save her family.

The funnier the better for CLASS CLOWN readers! In need of some good laughs? Look no further than “It's the End of the World and I'm in My Bathing Suit” and it’s sequel, “Running in Flip Flops From the End of the World!

If you are an ADVENTURE TIME reader, adventure is the name of your game! Join brothers Link and Hud on their non-stop adventures, that might just spill over into real-life, in "Heroes By a Hair."
