Mission

The Master Gardener Foundation of Tulsa, formed in 1992, is a 501(c) non-profit Corporation and financially supports the volunteer committees within the Master Gardener organization and the Tulsa County Cooperative Extension service.

The principal purpose of the Foundation shall be to organize, maintain, promote, support, encourage and assist with finances that enrich the Master Gardener programs in Tulsa County and its surrounding communities and to promote and educate the public on the benefits of sound and beneficial horticultural practices. 

The mission of Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) is to disseminate unbiased research-based information to the people of Oklahoma and encourage its adoption. Extension Educators provide that information to clientele in the areas of agriculture, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and community and rural development.

Services and Programs

Tulsa Master Gardeners (TMG)operates under the Tulsa Extension Office of Oklahoma State University. As a part of the Extension Service, TMG provides education to many groups through:

  • Providing short lectures and hand-on activities at primary schools on topics such as insects, botany, etc.
  • Providing short lectures for adults learning gardening topics such as growing vegetables, house plants, ornamentals, etc. at public libraries; assisted living centers, etc.
  • Maintaining a demonstration garden at 4116 E 15th St., in Tulsa.
  • Maintaining a seed to supper garden in Bixby - providing veggies grown to the homeless.
  • Participating in garden shows throughout the county to educate and advise.
  • Operating a call center with staff to answer question on garden maintenance, pest control, etc.
  • Planting and maintaining flowers in the Brookside shopping district throughout the year.
  • Supporting the education of Master Gardner volunteers in program developed with OSU.


Programs are added and discontinued periodically depending on current needs.
