Mission
The 1256 Movement promotes home building and ownership for Black families as a reparation for destruction of 1,256 homes in Greenwood.
Programs and Services
Our organization works with Black-owned business contractors to improve the homes of Black families in the Tulsa area. We convey payments for home improvements in the form of down payment assistance, land reclamation, remodeling according to applications submitted and relative urgency of home condition and funds available.
Funding is specifically designated for black families who have faced discrimination and harm due to the more than 100 year history of racial violence and harm done from the race massacre to "urban renewal" and redlining. There is no economic requirement to apply.
