When the Rain Came Down – A lyrical picture book that takes the reader through the events of a flash flood. The author’s note also provides helpful definitions and conversation starters for caregivers.

It’s the End of the World and I'm In My Bathing Suit – This hilarious middle grade novel follows five kids facing the apocalypse under outrageously silly circumstances. Followed by the sequel, Running in Flip Flops From the End of the World, these kids will keep you laughing on the edge of your seat until the very last page.
A World Without Summer – This narrative nonfiction reads like a chapter book and is chock full of facts and prompts the reader to think critically and ask questions.
The Destruction of Pompeii – This installment of the choose-your-own-adventure series, Decide and Survive, takes readers through the events leading up to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, prompting them to make choices to decide “their” fate.
