Celebrate 50 Years of Doctor Who with Tulsa City-County Library

Calling all Whovians, enter your TARDIS and journey through time and space to Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St., to enjoy the family event “Doctor Who – A Celebration!” Aug. 16, 1-4 p.m.

Celebrate 50 years and 13 different Doctors as Tulsa City-County Library heralds the continuing adventures with a new Doctor Who.  All ages will enjoy playing games and testing their Whovian knowledge to see who really knows the intricacies of the popular sci-fi television series.

Choose a character from any incarnation of the series, from a Dalek to Doctor Who, and compete in a Cosplay Contest for some fun prizes.  A display of library Doctor Who materials featuring books, complete season series, audio books and original soundtracks will be available to library customers for check out.

“With the new season starting Aug. 23, anticipation is higher than ever for Doctor Who fans.  Even more so than for the 50th anniversary special,” said Carissa Kellerby, Tulsa City-County Library reference research associate.  “We have a new incarnation of the Doctor who we’ve only caught glimpses of up to this point.  Peter Capaldi still has to prove to fans he is worthy of the sonic screwdriver.  A new Doctor also means a new dynamic and story arc for the show that we’re all anxious to see.”
