Summer Readers Earn Free Night with Tulsa Drillers

As a reward for reading throughout the summer, Buddy Bookworm and Hornsby extend an invitation to children and teens for a free night at the ballpark.

Included in each earned coupon packet for children and teens is a voucher good for one free general admission ticket for Library Summer Reading Night when the Tulsa Drillers play the Midland Rockhounds, Aug. 11 at 7:05 p.m.  As an additional bonus, the first 1,000 kids, 14 and under, will receive a free lunch box.  Sponsors for the evening include Tulsa Drillers, Williams and Tulsa City-County Library.

The 2012 TCCL summer reading program for children and teens once again was a homerun for literacy, with 42,945 eager readers signing up.  In 10 weeks, those readers read nearly 375,000 books.  Studies show that students who continue reading during the summer return to school and perform better on reading skill tests than children who did not increase their reading comprehension skills throughout the summer.

For more information on TCCL programming, call the AskUs Hotline, 918-549-7323, or visit the library’s webpage, www.tulsalibrary.org.
