Tulsa City-County Library’s 2015 children’s and teen summer reading programs will take young imaginations around the world while rewarding readers with fun and tasty prizes.
The free annual program is ongoing May 26-Aug. 1. All ages will need a library card, www.tulsalibrary.org/application, to register online at www.tulsalibrary.org/summer. Reading logs are available at your library or you can print your own from the summer reading program website.
Adults also can participate in “Migrations,” their own summer reading program, by reading or listening to four books to earn coupons for free treats, as well as a chance to win a Kindle eBook reader.
“We hope to sign up mom, dad, grandparents and the baby sitter for summer reading this year,” said Marianne Stambaugh, youth services manager. “Children who see their parents or other family members reading are more likely to enjoy reading themselves.”
For the first time, each library location will award a pair of Tulsa State Fair Mega Ride Passes. With every library visit the children will earn a sticker to put on their reading logs. When they have collected four stickers, they are entered in a special end-of-summer drawing.
Newborns to fifth grade will celebrate “Every Hero Has a Story” with activities and programs centered on superheroes, both fictional and real heroes in our community. By reading eight books children will receive a gold medal, along with a book of coupons for free entertainment and food, a $70 dollar value. Read 12 more books to earn a bonus prize, a superhero duck toy.

drawing for a pair of Tulsa State Fair Mega Ride Pass wristbands. Each
branch will select a winner. The ride wristband includes unlimited rides
for all 11 days of the fair, Oct. 1-11, as well as gate admission. All midway
rides are included; excludes extreme rides.
The teen/tween theme is “Unmask!” and presents activities featuring art projects, maker-space workshops and STEM programs. By reading six books teens receive an LED flashlight along with a book of coupons for free entertainment and food, a $52 value.
