Travels With Tulsans: Photographs and Stories From Around the World

   Take a vicarious trip around the world as Tulsa area photographers share stunning pictures during "Travels With Tulsans."

   Find a cozy seat in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fourth Street and Denver Avenue, Wednesdays, Jan. 9-Feb. 27, 12:10-12:50 p.m.  Coffee and sandwiches are available for purchase or you may bring your lunch.  Travels With Tulsans is sponsored by the Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries.

   The series begins Jan. 9 with “A Mystical Tour of Greece” by Harry Potter, part-time Grecian resident.  Take a less-traveled path of Greece and explore the landmarks of history that have survived the test of time.

   Jan. 16 features “Global Table Adventure” by Sasha Martin, worldly food blogger.  Join Martin on her adventure of 195 meals and 195 countries in 195 weeks.

   Jan. 23 is a trip to “Turkey” with the Rev. Dr. Bill Crowell of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.  Enjoy this tour through the historical sites in Kayser, Izmir and Istanbul.

   “From Tulsa to Tanzania” is the topic for Jan. 30 with Ashli Simms, director of development for the Janada L. Batchelor Foundation for Children.  Simms will share her photos of the Serengeti National Wildlife Park and Mount Kilimanjaro during her work in Tanzania with orphaned girls.

   Feb. 6 features “Sailing to the Baltic Capitals” by Tom Campbell, president of Campbell Organizational Services Inc.  Spend 10 days sailing the Baltic Sea with stops in Copenhagen, Tallinn, St. Petersburg and Helsinki.

   “Iran” is the stop for Feb. 13 with Dobie Langenkamp, local attorney.  Meet the people of Iran by traveling two weeks throughout the country.

   “A Week in Transylvania” is the feature for Feb. 20 with Bob Lieser, vice-president of programming, Tulsa Global Alliance.  Visit the historical sites of Cluj-Japoca, Sighisoara and Enlaka.

   The series concludes Feb. 27 with “Dushk: A Journey on the Albanian Elections’ Trail” by Jessie Pilgrim, local attorney.  Travel the Albanian elections’ trail, starting with the first elections after the 1997 collapse.  Meet the players, places and practices that have produced the most interesting elections on the planet.
