Tulsa City-County Library Expands Free Music Download Service

Tulsa City-County Library is helping library customers connect with the music they enjoy by expanding a popular music service.

Beginning this week, library cardholders will have two additional Freegal Music downloads per week.  Now, each week you can select 5 songs from dozens of genres and more than 7-million songs from 10,000 music labels, including Sony Music Entertainment.  Freegal Music is designed for all musical preferences.  New songs and labels are added weekly to keep the selection current.

Anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Tulsa County is eligible to apply for a free library card.  The card allows all library customers the ability to download up to five songs per week into their iTunes account or to their smartphone, PC, Mac or any other MP3 music player.  The best part, customers get to keep each downloaded song forever.  Songs are in a high-quality DRM-free MP3 format.  A Freegal App also is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play for downloading on the go.

“Freegal Music proved successful with library customers during the first year Tulsa City-County Library offered the service.  We had nearly 150,000 download songs in 2013,” said Charlotte Frazier, director of support services at TCCL.  “By adding additional downloads each week, customers have an opportunity to get more from a service they already enjoy.”
