Help Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hardesty Regional Library with crafts, performances and activities for all ages.

Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St., will host special events to celebrate its 20th anniversary on Friday, June 30, starting at 10 a.m. The celebration will kick off in Connor’s Cove Children’s Theater, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, with a live performance from Hot Toast Music Company, the product of dad, educator and musician Symon Hajjar who writes purposeful, irresistible music for kids. A reception will follow.
The Hardesty Regional Library began as the South Regional Library in 1982 at 18,300 square feet. The largest TCCL branch at the time, it was heavily used from day one. When Roger and Donna Hardesty made a generous donation in 1984, the South Regional branch was renamed in their honor. However, even after expanding the building in 1991, the space was unable to meet the needs of Tulsa’s fastest growing region. In 2001, the Hardestys made another generous offer: an 8-acre site that allowed TCCL to expand the building and parking lot again, resulting in the current two-story, 50,000-square-foot library that opened in May 2003.

Celebratory activities and programs at Hardesty Regional Library leading up to the anniversary event include:

  • “All Together Now: Hardesty Anniversary Celebration” through June 30 in the Children’s Department. All ages are invited to drop by and decorate a jigsaw puzzle piece inspired by a favorite library memory.
  • “Genealogy Craft Kit” from June 26-30 in the Genealogy Resource Center. Ages 16 and up can learn more about starting genealogy research and grab a DIY ornament craft kit.
  • “That's So Trivia Thursday” on Thursday, June 29 from 6-8 p.m. in Frossard Auditorium. Show off your knowledge of pop culture and history in a fun night of early aughts trivia.
