Relax with the sounds from local musicians during Music Sandwiched In, noon-12:50 p.m., in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.

   Music Sandwiched In is a one of the highlighted programs in the summer reading program for children, teens and adults. The free annual program encourages all ages to keep the pages turning during the summer and is ongoing through Aug. 3.   June 10, Jazz Pianist Don Ryan: Best known as a jazz pianist, Ryan actually started out in classical music and was an award winner in The Chopin Competition in Poland. For several years he was the pianist with the Tulsa Philharmonic. He also performed at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, The Performing Arts Center, the Jazz Hall and on just about every performing arts series in the area.

   June 24, Musicians Jana Jae and Jim Paul Blair: Classically trained as a violinist, Jae gained fame as the fiddler on Roy Clark's nationally televised show "Hee Haw." Being the son of former Texas Playboys member Ramona Reed, Blair was exposed to the music of Bob Wills at an early age. When he grew up, he went on to perform country, rock and bluegrass everywhere from Tulsa to Nashville. An original member of The Neverly Brothers, Blair is well known for his Hank Williams tribute shows.

   July 8, Harpist Lorelei Barton: Founder of the Midwest Harp Festival, Lorelei Barton has performed with the Tulsa Philharmonic, Tulsa Ballet, Tulsa Opera and a variety of chamber ensembles, as well as at many festivals. Her programs include music ranging from the classics through Broadway, to pop and jazz.

   July 22, Vocalist Janet Rutland: Rutland will delight us with the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, whose music includes "Oklahoma!" Rutland is well known for her performances of the wonderful songs from American’s most loved composers – Gershwin, Mercer and all of the others from the Great American Songbook. Violinist Shelby Eicher and pianist Scott McQuade will accompany her.
