Join TCCL and Magic City Books for “An Evening with Mariko Tamaki: Women in Comics,” Wednesday, March 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning & Creativity Center, 400 Civic Center.

   Tamaki, an award-winning graphic novel and comics author, will discuss the creative process, story building and feminism in the work of comics. She is the author of the young adult novel Saving Montgomery Sole and the co-creator of award-winning comics This One Summer, Skim, and Emiko Superstar. In 2015, This One Summer was awarded the Printz and Caldecott Honors as well as Canada’s Governor General’s award.

   She also has written for BOOM! Studios, Marvel, and DC Comics. For Marvel she has written for the series X-23, Infinity Wars and The Claws of a Killer. At DC Comics she has written for the series Supergirl, She-Hulk, and A Very DC Universe Rebirth Holiday.

   After her presentation, Tamaki will sign books. Copies of her work will be available for purchase after the event. Light refreshments will be provided.
