Each year, the Tulsa City-County Library hosts a systemwide initiative called One Book, One Tulsa, where residents of Tulsa County are encouraged to read the same book. The program’s purpose is to foster literacy within our community and encourage readers to have a dialog about an important and meaningful book.

"Mexican Gothic" is a mesmerizing feminist Gothic fantasy, in which a glamorous young socialite discovers the haunting secrets of a beautiful old mansion in 1950s Mexico. Released in 2020, “Mexican Gothic” became the year’s must-read and was on the “Best of the Year” lists from New York Times, NPR, Washington Post, and Library Journal. The book is currently in development as a Hulu original series produced by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.

Moreno-Garcia is the author of the novels “The Daughter of Doctor Moreau,” “Velvet Was the Night,” “Untamed Shore,” “Certain Dark Things,” “Gods of Jade and Shadow,” “The Beautiful Ones,” and “Signal to Noise.” She has also edited several anthologies, including the World Fantasy Award-winning “She Walks in Shadows (a.k.a. Cthulhu’s Daughters).” She is the publisher of Innsmouth Free Press and co-edited the horror magazine “The Dark” with Sean Wallace from 2017-2020.
