With muted colors and surprisingly little drama for a picture of a boy riding a polar bear, the seemingly dull cover almost led me away from this Sequoyah pick.

Journey of the Pale Bear is a must-read for any reader who wants to learn more about the world and/or who likes books where people and relationships are at the center. (At the Tulsa City-County Library, we call the first kind of reader "Curious Detective" and the second kind "Connector.") While Curious Detective readers usually trend toward nonfiction, this book is based on a true story and will certainly capture your attention. Fletcher also includes some information about the real royal bear, so make sure you read to the end!
