   TULSA, Okla. --- Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) and the Hispanic Resource Center promote and honor Hispanic culture and community throughout the year. From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, TCCL celebrates Hispanic heritage and culture through free programming for all ages.

   Beginning Sept. 6, TCCL branches will offer programs ranging from outdoor festivals and children’s crafts to book clubs and discussions. The festivities kick off with a family-friendly movie at Connor’s Cove in Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St., on Saturday, Sept. 6 and will be ongoing through Friday, Oct. 31, concluding with arts and crafts at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road, inspired by Vamos! Let's Celebrate Halloween and Día de los Muertos by Raúl the Third.

   Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations and programming are coordinated by TCCL’s Hispanic Resource Center, which was founded in 1999 to meet the educational and cultural needs of Tulsa’s Hispanic community. The Hispanic Resource Center is located inside Martin Regional Library. It offers cultural programs, bilingual storytimes, materials to improve language skills, classroom research and access to Spanish language materials.    Free Hispanic Heritage Months include:

  • “Movies in the Cove” on Saturdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10 a.m.–noon in Connor’s Cove at Hardesty Regional Library. Join us for a family-friendly movie (rated PG). No food or drink is allowed in Connor's Cove. For families of all ages.
  • “Paint the Story: ‘¡Vamos! Let's Go Read’” on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 4-5 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Listen to a beautifully illustrated book and make art inspired by it. For ages 4-10.
  • “Beyond the Book” on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 10-11 a.m. at South Broken Arrow Library, 3600 S. Chestnut. Join us to discuss "Fruit of the Drunken Tree" by Ingrid Rojas Contreras. Reserved copies are available at the library. For adults.
  • “918 Day: Mural Your Story” on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 4:30-6 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. Make your own mural to take home and help paint a community mural to be displayed in Martin Regional Library.
  • “Noche Festival” on Friday, Sept. 19 from 7-9 p.m. at Kendall-Whittier Library, 21 S. Lewis. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at this outdoor festival for all ages. Enjoy refreshments, piñatas, and singing and dancing along to music provided by a live mariachi band. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket.
  • “Guatemalan Worry Doll Crafting” on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 2-3 p.m. at Hardesty Regional Library. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by crafting your own Guatemalan worry doll.   • “Tote Bag Marbling” on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 6-7 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. Create your own vibrant tote bag using shaving cream and paint in a unique marbling technique. For teens and adults. Registration is required. Register online at https://events.tulsalibrary.org/event/14261926.
  • Craft Castle” on Thursdays, Sept. 25, Oct. 9 and Oct. 30 from 3-4 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. Join us in Craft Castle as we make crafts in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. For preschoolers to tweens.
  • “Paint the Story: ‘Strollercoaster’” on Friday, Sept. 26 from; 4-5 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. Listen to a beautifully illustrated book and make art inspired by it. For ages 4-10. This event will also be offered in Spanish.
  • “Children's Literature Lotería” on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 4-5 p.m. at Nathan Hale Library. Join us as we play a version of the traditional Mexican board game Lotería that will feature characters from children's literature. For ages 4-12.
  • “Family Movie Night” on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford. Enjoy snacks as we watch a family-friendly movie. For all ages.
  • “Full Cup Book Club: ‘The Seventh Veil of Salome’” on Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 10-11 a.m. at Martin Regional Library. Join us as we discuss "The Seventh Veil of Salome" by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Books are available for checkout at Martin Regional or download at www.tulsalibrary.org.
  • “Mexican Folk Dance by Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca” on Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 6-7 p.m. at Rudisill Regional Library. Enjoy the colorful and enchanting traditional dances of Mexico artfully performed by Ballet Folklorico Sol Azteca. For all ages.
  • “Paint the Story" on Friday, Oct. 31 from 4-5 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. Listen to a beautifully illustrated book and make art inspired by it. For ages 4-10. This event will also be offered in Spanish.

  • “Introducción a la impresión 3D" on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 6-7 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. For teens and adults.
  • “Introducción a Tinkercad” on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 6-7 p.m. at Martin Regional Library. For teens and adults. Registration is required.
  • “Creando moldes con Vaquform: Una introducción” on Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 6-7 p.m. at Martin Regional Library.
  • “Taller creativo: Diseña papel picado en Canva” on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 6-7 p.m. at Martin Regional Library.
