Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international campaign to inspire and encourage entrepreneurs. From Nov. 17-23, Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) invites current and aspiring entrepreneurs to a week of free programs focused on business resources available at the library.
For 18 years, the Global Entrepreneurship Network has helped millions of people unleash their ideas to start and scale new businesses through Global Entrepreneurship Week. This movement places emphasis on inspiring young people to make their mark and has quickly grown to become a comprehensive effort that engages entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, researchers, support organizations and others collaborating to advance economic growth and innovation in more than 200 countries around the world.
Free programs at TCCL include:
- “BlueCareer 101” on Monday, Nov. 17 from noon-1 p.m. at Central Library, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue. BlueCareer is a comprehensive online resource for exploring skilled trades and career transitions. Discover tools to help you find your next opportunity and search for jobs tailored to your interests. Registration is required.
- “Introduction to Library Business Resources” on Monday, Nov. 17 from 4-5 p.m. at Central Library. Join us for a class about all the resources and databases the library has to help you work on all aspects of your business.
- “Accessing Business Archives” on Monday, Nov. 17 from 6-7 p.m. at Central Library. Explore the archives of Tulsa Spotlight Theatre and see the inner workings of a business. Gain insight on how to run a board meeting, collect and archive invoices, and develop marketing materials.
- “Introduction to Market Research” on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from noon-1 p.m. at Broken Arrow Library, 300 W. Broadway Ave. Learn how to conduct market research to evaluate your competitors and gather data and demographics for your business plan.
- “Small Business Grants 101” on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 2-3 p.m. at Central Library. Does your small business idea qualify for a grant? Find out about SBA grants and learn to use Foundation Directory, the most comprehensive prospect research tool to discover local and national funders.
- “Government Contracting 101” on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 10-11 a.m. at Central Library. Join TCCL's government information librarian and learn about government contracts and how to find opportunities for your business to work with the federal or state government.
- “Introduction to SimplyAnalytics” on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from noon-1 p.m. at Jenks Library, 523 W. B St. Come learn the features of TCCL's new database SimplyAnalytics (including demographics, businesses, maps and more).
- “Canva 101 for Entrepreneurs” on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Central Library. Learn how to brand your business using Canva. Registration is required.
- “Business Plan Write In” on Friday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m.-noon at Central Library. Join us for a come-and-go time to work on your business plan and get help from TCCL's economic and community development librarian.
