Weather-Related Library Closings

Winter weather in Oklahoma means that we must contend with snow and ice and threats of severe weather that may impact library service.  In the event of severe weather, the safety of our customers and our staff is most important.  Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter, sign up for Library Text Alerts, visit TCCL Website and/or call the library at 918-549-7323 to learn the status of events and/or library closings.

When impending weather is predicted or begins prior to the opening of the library:

The Library Facilities Manager will field check road conditions. If hazardous road conditions are verified, an announcement will be made to the public through the Tulsa City-County Library’s Website, FacebookLibrary Text Alerts, Twitter and the local news media.

Resulting decisions may include, but are not limited to:

  • All library locations may be closed for the day.
  • Library locations may open later than usual and/or close earlier than scheduled.
  • Some library locations may open, while others will remain closed.

Should winter weather begin while libraries are open, the decision may be made to close library locations early using the same process as above.

Library Programs: In the event of severe weather, please check the status of your library program before venturing out.

Library Materials: We encourage the use of digital services when the libraries are closed. Fines will be forgiven for days the libraries are closed for inclement weather.
