Tulsa County resident earns high school diploma through the library

Dec. 15, 2022    Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL) and Gale/Cengage Learning to offer five Tulsa County residents the opportunity to earn their high school diploma for free through Excel High School. 29-year-old Jasmine Edmundson was one of the first to seize the opportunity and is now a high school graduate.

Mr. Henry’s Books workshop connects educators with classroom resources and winner of 2023 Zarrow Award

Dec. 13, 2022    Middle- and high-school teachers and librarians are invited to attend Mr. Henry’s Books Educator Workshop, Saturday, Feb. 18 from 9-11 a.m. at Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning and Creativity Center, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue. This continuing-education workshop will focus on the works of New York Times bestselling author Steve Sheinkin, winner of the 2023 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature.

   Dec. 8, 2022    New York Times bestselling author Steve Sheinkin is the winner of the Tulsa Library Trust’s 2023 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature. He will accept the award at a public presentation on Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m. in Connor’s Cove at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. He also will present awards to winners of the 2023 Young People’s Creative Writing Contest at the ceremony.

Ann Patchett to step in for 2022 Distinguished Author Award Series

Nov. 4, 2022   TULSA, Okla. --- Due to illness, Elizabeth Strout is unable to accept the 2022 Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award, given by the Tulsa City-County Library and Tulsa Library Trust. There will not be a Distinguished Author Award bestowed this year since the winner has to be present to receive the award. However, Ann Patchett, 2014 Helmerich Award winner, has graciously agreed to step in as the featured speaker for the Distinguished Author Series.
