Aspiring writers encouraged to participate in library’s Young People’s Creative Writing Contest

Jan. 13, 2021 Tulsa City-County Library’s annual Young People’s Creative Writing Contest gives young writers the opportunity to make their voices heard. With three age divisions in five different categories, TCCL encourages Tulsa County youths to stretch their imaginations and deepen their relationship with writing by telling their stories in their own words—or illustrations!

Jason Reynolds to receive the 2021 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature

   TULSA, Okla. --- New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds is the winner of the Tulsa Library Trust’s 2021 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature. He will accept the award at a public presentation on Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m. He also will present awards to winners of the 2021 Young People’s Creative Writing Contest at the ceremony.

Celebrate children’s literature with illustrator Zachariah OHora at 2020 Books to Treasure

   TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa City-County Library treasures books, but treasures children even more. TCCL’s annual Books to Treasure program makes the power of art and literature accessible to children of all ages with a live event highlighting a beloved children’s book creator and a select piece of their work. Now in its 18th year, the 2020 program will feature author and illustrator Zachariah OHora on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at 7 p.m.

Tommy Orange (Cheyenne/Arapaho) will receive the Tulsa Library Trust’s “Festival of Words Writers Award” March 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., during a livestream ceremony on TCCL’s Youtube channel, www.youtube.com/user/TulsaLibrary.

Tulsa City-County Library closures update

   The Tulsa City-County Library’s city locations will close this weekend in preparation of the President’s rally in Tulsa.

Tulsa City-County Library to reopen for express service

Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) will reopen all locations for express service beginning Monday, June 22. Express service includes curbside or in-library holds pickup along with browsing, copying, printing and faxing. Computer usage will also be available with a 30-minute time limit.
